It has been brought to our attention that Air Comet has been suspended from IATA Clearing House due to non-payment of January 2009 clearance balance.

News reports state that the Swedish airline, Nordic Airways has had its operating licence revoked due to financial problems. Cover is therefore withdrawn immediately. (26th January 2009)

It has been brought to our attention that flyLAL (Lithuanian Airlines) has ceased operations with effect from 17 January 2009.

Airline Failure - Notification from MPI Brokers - Air Tanzania
The media reported last week that over the weekend the entire fleet of Air Tanzania, Tanzania's national carrier, has been temporarily grounded. The suspension of operations comes after the Tanzanian Civil Aviation Authority cancelled the carrier's operating licence, following an inspection that revealed hundreds of operational breaches. Travellers holding pre-booked tickets with the carrier are advised to contact their travel agent for alternative flight arrangements.
